College students across India will now get free access to e-journals and e-books from all over the world. They can get this access with the help of Human Resource Development Ministry. A ministry official said, "It is a part of the ICT (information and communication technology) initiatives of the government. The resources include more than 2,100 e-journals and 51,000 e-books.” Under the scheme, premier institutions like IITs, IISERs and NIT along with 6,000 government-aided colleges across the country will be covered. To subscribe this facility, the government colleges need to pay Rs. 5,000 annually, and private colleges need to pay Rs. 45,000 for the whole year; however, students will have the free access to it.
