Government Plans To Propose “Nalanda University Bill” in Monsoon Session

The Government is planning to introduce Nalanda University Bill in this monsoon session. It’s an attempt to rejuvenate Nalanda as an international university. Mrs. Ambika Soni, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, while speaking to the media said that the Union Cabinet has approved the presentation of the legislation for setting up the University at a cost of approximately Rs 1,005 crore. The planning commission has already granted a fund of Rs. 50 crore for the purpose. This future University will have six schools--Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions; Historical Studies; International Relations and Peace Studies; Business Management in relation to Public Policy and Development Studies; Languages and Literature; and Ecology and Environmental Studies.
