Maharashtra Government Has Increased MBA Seats By 53%

Maharashtra government has decided to increase seats for management programs in the state by 53%. This news has been received well by management aspirants since colleges now will be authorized to start a second shift for MBA and Masters in Management Studies programs. In 2010--2011, the number of seats will be 33,045 and apart from management, there are 88,370 engineering seats, 8,513 in pharmacy and 7,138 MCA seats in the state. A Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) spokesperson said, “A management degree is highly popular and sought-after. To meet the ever-increasing demand, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved second shifts for management programmes this year. Further, the AICTE has also allowed new colleges to have 120 students in their first batch, instead of 60, which used to be the earlier rule. This has led to a sizeable increase in the total number of seats”.
