UGC or University Grants Commission has identified 21 fake universities and educational institutions running across India. Out of these 21 institutes, 8 are in U.P., 6 in Delhi and one each in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Apart from this, AICTE has brought to light 350 unapproved institutions running technical and management courses against AICTE regulations. The lists of such institutions have been updated at the official websites of UGC and AICTE.
