India Has An Efficient System To Provide Tsunami Warnings: Official

India has introduced an effective system to provide tsunami warnings after the disaster struck the country in 2004, a senior government official said.
Excluding the lack of tsunami warning system in the country, Secretary Ministry of Earth Sciences Secretary Shailesh Naik said the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) is a world-class tsunami warning system.
"This has proven to be a time when we were able to make his first run, just seven minutes after the earthquake ground in Japan exclude the threat of tsunamis in the Indian Ocean, when the U.S. tsunami warning system, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)) gave the first alarm for 12 minutes after a strong earthquake near the coast of Honshu, "he said.

Rs 125 crore tsunami warning center system was established in 2007 in Hyderabad INCOIS is estimated at 25 to 30 earthquakes in the last three years.
